Agios Gordios has a huge bay with a beautiful, sweeping crescent of sand and pebble. There is a tiny islet offshore. Backed by forested hills that tempt keen walkers, and fronted by a turquoise sea, life here revolves around the beach, at the southern end of which is a gigantic rock, the Ortholith, where snorkelling is particularly good. Facing west, it is a terrific beach for catching the afternoon sun. Tavernas in Aghios Gordios are renowned for excellent food. A local speciality is squid stuffed with bacon, cheese and garlic.
The village of Agios Gordios is relaxing, but by no means asleep. It can get busy in high season and there is the occasional disco. Aghios Gordios has a few supermarkets and souvenir shops. For more variety, head to Corfu town. There's Pelekas, at the top of a twisting road and below it the popular resort of Glyfada. Other excursions include the leisurely Boat Barbecue - what better way to see Corfu than cruising along its rugged coast - and the unmissable Greek Extravaganza, a perfect opportunity to dance the night away.

At one end lies a tiny offshore island, looking as if it has broken off the rockface and splashed into the water. As a rule, there's not much going on in lovely Aghios Gordios! During the day, most people are either turning golden brown on the beach while catching up on their reading, or exploring the pine-clad hills behind the resort, and nightlife is limited to a handful of friendly bar/disco bars.
